The Child Care and Protection Programme is aimed at protecting children and adolescents from neglect, abuse, and exploitation worsened by gender-based stigma, discrimination, and violence by aligning with statutory child protection services and specialized professionals. Praajak ensures the care and protection of children by forging strong linkages with the child protection system. Our programme is dedicated to safeguarding children's rights and well-being through a multifaceted and collaborative approach.
We connect vulnerable children with existing statutory services to ensure they receive the care and protection they need. By working closely with legal and regulatory authorities, we facilitate referrals to specialized professionals and civil society organizations equipped to support children effectively.
Recognizing the importance of family and community, we advocate for community-based alternatives for child care and protection. This includes kinship care, which keeps children within their extended families, and alternatives to detention and diversion programs for children in conflict with the law.
The uniqueness of Praajak’s approach is that it constantly emphasises the importance of child agency in all aspects of child protection policymaking, legislation and practice. By engaging relevant stakeholders, conducting studies and building workable models we ensure that children's voices are heard and prioritized in decisions that affect their lives.
Collaboration with likeminded organisations is key to advancing child protection. We partner with other civil society organisations and platforms to share and build on good practices in the sector. Through collective effort, we aim to develop systemic capacities, create effective models of intervention, and deliver services that promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
