Ensuring Education Rights of Children Living in Urban Bustees and Tribal Villages of Asansol Project Objectives
Location: Bordanga, Kuilapur, Nakrasota, and Dihika
Child Protection & Well-being:
Protect children from abuse, neglect, violence, and exploitation through formal education, specialized gender sensitivity sessions, structured Kabaddi classes, and community-wide awareness programs.
Academic Enrollment:
Increase formal school enrollment and ensure consistent, regular attendance among vulnerable children.
Community & Parental Empowerment:
Raise deep awareness among parents and local communities regarding children’s fundamental education and protection rights.
Safe Learning Spaces: Promote, build, and sustain a safe, child-friendly, and highly supportive learning environment.
Project Footprint & Reach
Active Locations:
Currently implemented across 4 distinct vulnerable locations (including Bordanga, Kuilapur, Nakrasota, and Dihika).
Total Beneficiary Children: 415 children
are directly supported (Boys= 170 and Girls = 245).
Family Impact: 250 families are actively engaged and supported.
Community Mobilization: 4 core communities have been successfully reached under the scope of this project.

Our multi-tiered interventions create a protective ecosystem that addresses the educational, emotional, physical, and social developmental needs of children.
Holistic Learning & Life Skills:
Through regular community classes and tailored gender sessions, children build self-confidence, break internal fears, and learn to safely articulate their thoughts.
Physical Empowerment Through Sports: Structured Kabaddi classes serve as an incredible vehicle for building physical strength, team cohesion, and immense mental resilience—shattering traditional gender stereotypes about what young girls can achieve.
Empowered Support Systems:
Regular mothers’ meetings and localized groups (such as the Shakti Sanjog group) structurally shift the mindsets of adult caregivers. Parents evolve from passive observers into active protectors who advocate for their children’s education over early marriage or child labor.
Direct Crisis Intervention:
The project acts as a direct safety net. When children face severe neglect, domestic abuse, or threatened child marriages, our community animators, local networks, and trained family members step in to rescue, relocate, and restore the child’s rights.
Future Plans & Long-Term Vision
Providing leadership training to boys and girls from the community, developing them as leaders, and enabling them to take forward and lead community initiatives and activities.
Establishing Community Protection Committees:
Institutionalize the Shakti Sanjog groups into formalized community watchdogs that can independently report and mitigate child rights violations, child labor, and early marriages.
Digital Integration & Infrastructure:
Introduce basic digital literacy modules into the existing community education classes to bridge the rural-urban technology gap.
