On 13th February 2013, the Delhi High Court passed a judgement asking the Indian Railways to assume responsibility for caring and protecting children on their premises. The Court especially referred to Muktangan as an existing collaborative child protection programme at the railway stations. Subsequently the Central Railway Board has now issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to be implemented all over India.
Since 2013, 310 local college youths joined Networking and advocacy through Coalition for Childís Right to Protection CCRP to advocate for free and compulsory, elementary education for children. This effort resulted in the enrollment of 2733 children in local schools in 21 blocks and 8 districts of West Bengal till date. Libraries were set up in 8 of the Government run Child Care Institutions
In 2013 we were invited by Unicef Assam to conduct an assessment of the Open Shelter programme in collaboration with the Railways, Police and the Department of Social Welfare. In the same year we also became consultants to Unicef Kolkata to develop a teacherís manual for Schools in West Bengal in collaboration with State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT).
70 campaigns were organized over the last 17 years since 1997 across the 21 districts of West Bengal where more than 11000 people added their voice to demands on raising awareness on sexual offences against children.
